Leather Care Guide

At NELVYN, every pair of shoes is handcrafted from premium genuine leather, chosen for its durability, character, and ability to develop a rich patina over time. With proper care, your footwear will not only last for years but become even more beautiful with every wear.

Clean Regularly

After each wear, remove dust and dirt using a soft horsehair brush or a clean, dry microfiber cloth. Regular cleaning helps preserve the natural finish of the leather and prevents dirt from settling into the surface.

Condition The Leather

Leather naturally loses moisture over time. Apply a high-quality leather conditioner every 2–3 months, or more frequently if your shoes are exposed to dry conditions. Conditioning keeps the leather soft, supple, and resistant to cracking.

Polish For A Lasting Finish

Use a premium shoe cream or wax polish that closely matches the leather color. Apply a thin, even layer with a soft cloth, allow it to absorb, then buff gently with a horsehair brush to restore a refined shine.

Protect From Water

Although genuine leather offers natural durability, it is not completely waterproof. Avoid prolonged exposure to rain or standing water. If your shoes become wet, allow them to air dry naturally at room temperature. Never use direct heat sources such as radiators, heaters, or hair dryers, as they can damage the leather.

Use Shoe Trees

Insert cedar shoe trees after each wear to help maintain the shoe's original shape, reduce moisture buildup, and minimize creasing.

Rotate Your Footwear

Avoid wearing the same pair every day. Allow your shoes to rest for at least 24 hours between wears to let the leather breathe and recover its natural shape.

Store Properly

Store your shoes in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and excessive humidity. For long-term storage, keep them in the provided dust bags or shoe box to protect them from dust and scratches.

Avoid Harsh Chemicals

Do not clean your shoes with bleach, detergents, alcohol-based products, or abrasive cleaners. Always use products specifically designed for genuine leather footwear.

Caring For Different Leather Finishes

  • Full-Grain Leather: Condition regularly and polish occasionally to maintain its rich appearance.
  • Suede & Nubuck: Use a suede brush and suede cleaner only. Avoid creams, waxes, and excessive moisture.
  • Pull-Up Leather: Light scratches can often be reduced by gently rubbing the area with clean fingers or applying a small amount of leather conditioner.
